Today I needed to make the buttercream consistency smooth.
I was going to draw on it with a brush.
What did I do? I just added some milk.
That's what I got...
The conclusion, that I made for myself is the following ( that's what works for me) - for flooding you have to add little bit more of meringue powder to the buttercream. Especially if you live in a humid climate. You can read about it also here...
Your blog is a welcome addition to the cookie blogger world. Inspiring and much adored! Keep posting :)

ReplyDeleteA gratine from Spain
How much more meringue and milk did you use to make it flood?
ReplyDeleteI did not add more powder, but the next time going to add. I want to be sure that the surface is quite hard and dry for packing. I added a little milk. Remember the 10-second consistency of icing?
DeleteHi Nadia! I have a question for you and Karen. Which brand of meringue powder do you use? Thanks in advance for your help!
ReplyDeleteI used Wilton...I think Karen uses CK.
DeleteBeautiful. You do such beautiful work. Wish I could paint like that!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Norma!

DeleteI truly love your delicate artwork, an inspiration for me! I mixed up this icing today and followed the directions exactly...I had to add a little extra water because it was so dry and couldn't whip. Does it soften as it whips? Maybe I didn't wait long enough? And may I also ask, did you have to add much milk for the flood consistency? Do you think water would work as well? Sorry to pepper you with questions!
ReplyDeleteYes, I think the water will work too. This icing should be a very good beat.
DeleteI love the delicate look of your artwork, such an inspiration! I wondered, how much milk did you use to get the flood consistency? Do you think water would work the same?
