Experiments with buttercream. Part 4. Flooding.


 Today I needed to make the buttercream consistency smooth.
 I was going to draw on it with a brush. 
What did I do? I just added some milk. 
That's what I got...
The conclusion, that I made for myself is the following ( that's what works for me) - for flooding you have to add little bit more of meringue powder to the buttercream. Especially if you live in a humid climate. You can read about it also here...

    1. I did not add more powder, but the next time going to add. I want to be sure that the surface is quite hard and dry for packing. I added a little milk. Remember the 10-second consistency of icing?

  8. I truly love your delicate artwork, an inspiration for me! I mixed up this icing today and followed the directions exactly...I had to add a little extra water because it was so dry and couldn't whip. Does it soften as it whips? Maybe I didn't wait long enough? And may I also ask, did you have to add much milk for the flood consistency? Do you think water would work as well? Sorry to pepper you with questions!

    1. Yes, I think the water will work too. This icing should be a very good beat.
